Pakistan’s film industry changed dramatically after the breakthrough of BOL film. People never cared about the Pakistani movies and the film industry was gloomy and was counting the last breath. Geo Films made the movie BOL and became the ice-breaker after which we saw some amazing movies. Waar, was one of the most anticipated movie of Pakistan’s history and broke all records. It was premiered in multiple countries such as UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, UK, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Australia beside Pakistan. And the director Bilal Lishari became an icon and a role model for everyone in the industry.

The movie is inspired by the work of Mir Taqi Mir, the first classical master of Urdu poetry. The story follows the struggle of a contemporary poet and draw parallels with events in MIR’s life. The film is a reflective look at honour killings in Pakistan and has mostly been shot in Rahim Yar Khan, the region where most honour killings are reported.
