Few days back one of my servers were expiring and I had to move my blog www.talalmasood.com to the other server. The blog sometimes used to act weird and was including spam links and stuff. I tried to figure out a lot, but unfortunately was unable to find the source. When I moved it to the new server, and reinstalled everything, that spam appeared again. The only reason I came up with was that something is wrong in the database of the old blog.
So, finally I made the decision to let go my older blog and start up a new blog on this new domain. It would have taken me a lot of time to figure out the issue in the database, so instead of wasting my time, I guess I’m back here! And YES! I regret losing all my posts from the previous blog. I shared a lot of experience and my thoughts there but unfortunately, I have to let them go. Still I’ll see if I get some time to extract the posts out from the previous blog and post them here again, but I am not promising anything right now.
Some of my friends here, may know the solution to the problem I faced. I will be really thankful if you can let me know. What I think is there was some C99 Shell which was getting reinstalled on my host and edit all the PHP files with some sock9 code. It was redirecting my traffic somewhere and also pinging some particular IP Addresses. The trick was, I cannot make any automatic system to edit all the files, because that code was using a random number in between. So I had to manually open each and every file to edit it. If there was no such random number, I would have easily written some script to execute and edit all the files and fix the code.
Well, whoever that hacker was ruined a lot of days from my life fixing the issue again and again after every few weeks. I hope I will be able to keep posting about my experiences and things here so that you all don’t waste your time on the same thing that I have done already. I believe that one who tries to reinvent the wheel would be stupid. Internet is full of resources, so always first try to find out the already-done solutions instead of doing the stuff again. Whatever I have learned in social media, graphic designing, mobile app designing, search engine optimization, and other things related to IT. I am always open to share and mostly don’t charge for sharing my knowledge :p. Thanks to everyone out there for loving me and supporting me in my work.
